Cooking Instructions
Equipment
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper or a non-stick baking mat
- Oven
- Pastry brush
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat thoroughly.
- Prepare the Baking Sheet:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick baking mat to prevent sticking.
- Thaw the Pies (Optional):
- For even cooking and better results, you can thaw the pies in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight. This is optional, but it can help the pies bake more evenly. If you don’t have time to thaw them, you can bake them directly from frozen.
- Arrange the Pies:
- Place the frozen pies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each to allow for even cooking.
- Brush with Egg Wash (Optional):
- For a golden, glossy finish, beat one egg with a tablespoon of water or milk and brush the top of each pie with the egg wash. This step is optional but recommended for a more appealing appearance.
- Bake the Pies:
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes if thawed, or 35-40 minutes if baking from frozen, until the pies are golden brown and the filling is hot.
- Check for Doneness:
- Remove one pie from the oven and check that the pastry is golden and cooked through. If the filling is not hot enough, you can cover the pies with foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the pies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving. This helps the filling set slightly and makes handling easier.
Tips
- If you find the tops browning too quickly, cover the pies loosely with aluminum foil to prevent burning while ensuring the filling cooks thoroughly.
- Serve the pies with a side of salad, or a dipping sauce for an enhanced meal experience.
